Why Boycott Facebook

Where exactly can we draw the line between freedom of expression and hatred-filled-expression? A tough question to ask! Millions of Muslims officially and unofficially record their protest worldwide over Facebook's fallacy of quietly supporting the Anti Islam page that had many derogatory remarks and direct insults to our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Thanks to Pakistani Supreme Court that it showed some sense of honor towards our Holy Prophet and ordered the blockage of Facebook, YouTube and other websites publishing the blasphemous content. This has also caused a large no. of Muslim students around the globe launch protests against Facebook and to boycott facebook from being used.

Think of it like this, would you ever like to re-visit a shop or a local business, who involved directly or indirectly in your own insult, or the insult of your family members / relatives? Would you ever like to avail services of the business that was holding a contest to cartoonify you, your family members or blood relatives calling it the freedom of expression? While curbing your protest, grievances or concerns against it? Off course No! Then how could someone being a Muslim or even true follower of their own religion for that matter, tolerate such a horrendous act on part of Facebook?

Although the group was blocked for a short period of time by facebook, only to be reinstated soon enough while many other Facebook Pages and Groups boycotting the former one, were quietly removed from the site, which clearly shows the Real Face of Facebook!

Let me end with a recent personal story. Moved by the trending topic, I spent about 2 days developing a website and a blog to launch a "boycott facebook movement" online. The domain name I registered for this purpose was www.boycottfacebook.org and contained just a few articles under the categories of anti facebook quotes, anti facebook videos, against facebook, anti facebook polls and some other stories related to facebook's recent and past ill-doings.

To my astonishment, as I was about to spread the word about the website, my web hosting account was suspended along with the domain. Unfortunately, all my business websites and hosting accounts were also with the same hosting company and as I feared, all my business websites have also been suspended. The time and money it will take to switch to another web host and re-create the websites is just horrendous!

So this is the Freedom of Expression right? When a minor person like me cannot even post a normal criticism against facebook, punished by bringing down my business websites, then how come facebook allow such a grave insult (not even criticism) to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)?

Though Pakistan's government has blocked facebook and has blocked it till 31st May, my appeal to all my Muslim Brothers and Sisters is to BOYCOTT FACEBOOK for good and to say goodbye to facebook forever! We Muslims should have our own social networking website which I'm planning to launch pretty soon and I need your support and ideas in this venture.

Do you know that according to BBC, more than $2 billion loss has been incurred by facebook just in 2 days as many Muslims around the globe, boycott facebook. Moreover, if this movement against facebook continues just for 7 more days, this figure shall increase to $40 billion.

So what are you thinking for? Lets come out of the Facebook Addiction. If you're with me on this, please comment below and hoot Boycott Facebook so your voice can be heard, before even this page is taken down by the advocates of so called "Freedom of Speech".
